Verses

“See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass … many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many. And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold. But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved. When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand.”

—St. Matt. 24:6-15.

“Behold, the God of Israel said to me: Son of man, dost thou see the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should depart far off from my sanctuary? Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they commit here. And I went in and saw the abomination, and all the idols of the house of Israel.

“And he said to me: Surely thou seest, O son of man, what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every one in private in his chamber: for they say: The Lord seeth us not. And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man: but turn thee again and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.

“And he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord: and behold at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were men having their backs towards the temple of the Lord. And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man: is this a light thing to the house of Juda, that they should commit these abominations which they have committed here: because they have filled the land with iniquity, and have turned to provoke me to anger? Therefore I also will deal with them in my wrath: my eye shall not spare them, neither will I shew mercy: and when they shall cry to my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”

— Ezekiel 8.

“But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother. And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.”

—St. Matt. 18:15-17.

“A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid; knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment.”

—Titus 3:10-11.

“Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. All things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light; for all that is made manifest is light.”

—Ephesians 5:11, 13.

Quotes

At the beatification of Joan of Arc (Dec. 13, 1908), Pope St. Pius X said:

“In our time more than ever before, the greatest asset of those disposed toward evil is the cowardice and weakness of good men, and all the vigor of Satan’s reign is due to the easygoing weakness of Catholics. Oh! if I might ask the Divine Redeemer, as the Prophet Zachary did in spirit (Zach. 13:6a): ‘What are those wounds in the midst of Thy hands?’ The answer would not be doubtful: ‘…With these I was wounded in the house of them that loved me’ (Zach. 13:6b). I was wounded by my friends, who did nothing to defend me, and who, on every occasion, made themselves the accomplices of my adversaries. And this reproach can be leveled at the weak and timid Catholics of all countries.”
